Quotes
Sumerzé Help Center
Some jobs can't have one fixed price, like a wedding cake, catering for 80 or a full kitchen remodel. For those, providers can price a service by quote.
Two ways a service can be priced
Fixed
You see the exact price, pick a time and book, as usual.
Quote
No set price. You send a request with your details and the provider replies in the chat with an exact price. You book by accepting it. Some providers show a usual range, like "$150–$400", as a guide.
Requesting a quote
- On the provider's profile, tap Request a quote on the service.
- Pick the date you need it, add the number of guests if it's an event, and describe what you want. You can add up to 3 reference photos.
- Send it. It's free and you don't pay anything until you accept a quote.
- The request appears in your chat with the provider. They may ask you questions there before sending a price.
When you receive a quote
- The quote shows the total price, the date and time, what's included, the deposit to confirm, and how long it's valid.
- Accept: you pay the deposit and booking fee (if the provider asks for a deposit) and the booking is confirmed right away at that price and time. The rest is paid when the job is done, as with any booking.
- Decline: the provider is told. You can keep chatting and they can send you a new quote.
- If a quote expires before you accept it, tap Ask for a new one and the provider is notified.
- If the provider sends a new quote, the older one is marked Replaced and can't be accepted. Only the newest quote is ever payable.
- Once accepted, it's a normal booking: reminders, cancellation policy, final payment, no-show protection and reviews all work the same way.
- The accepted price can't change afterwards. If the job grows (more hours, more guests, extra work), agree on it in the chat and request a new quote for the extra part. Nothing extra is charged unless you accept it.
For providers
- In the app, go to Services and add or edit a service.
- Under How is it priced?, choose Fixed or Quote.
- For Quote, you can add a usual price range to show on your profile. It's only a guide.
- When a request arrives, open the chat and tap the quote button next to the message field. Enter the price, date and time, deposit, what's included and how long it's valid (3, 7, 14 or 30 days).
- To change a quote, send a new one. The form opens with your last quote filled in, and the old one is replaced automatically.
- You can also tap Send a quote right on the request card in the chat.
- If the customer accepts, the booking is confirmed straight away at your price and time. You don't need to accept it again; it shows up in your bookings.
- If they decline or tap Ask for a new one, you're notified and can send a new quote from the chat. If a quote expires, nothing is charged and nothing is booked.
- A deposit needs payouts set up (Profile › Payouts). Without payouts, your quote has no deposit and the customer pays you directly.
- Once accepted it's a normal booking: your cancellation policy applies, and if you cancel or don't show up the customer is refunded.
- The accepted price is final. If the job grows, agree on it in the chat and ask the customer to request a new quote for the extra work.
- Sumerzé's fees and sales tax work the same as for any booking, calculated on the quoted price.
- Reference photos are private: only the customer who sent them and you can see them.
Common questions
Does requesting a quote cost anything?
No. Nothing is charged until you accept a quote.
Is a quote a promise to book?
No. You're free to decline or let it expire.
Can the price change after I accept?
No. An accepted quote is the price of the booking.
Do discounts apply to quotes?
The quoted price is already set for your job, so sales and frequent client rewards don't apply on top of it.
